Tomorrow your child will be bringing home fluency passages in a new format. The expectations are the same - your child should read this out loud three times a week and I ask that you record his/her time to read the passage, along with number of errors made in the box in the top right corner. These will come home every other week and are always due on Friday (or the last day of school for the week). Your child can also use the Fluency Check to determine what he/she did well and can write a Fluency Goal. This part is not required, but having a goal may help your child improve. As always, please let me know if you have any questions.
Today, we saw a picture of this bug in our reading lesson. We aren't sure what it is! If your child wants to research this, he/she can bring back the answer anytime this week!
WOW! What a crazy week! In an effort to catch up with word study, I met with three groups today. Because I meet with the kids on a cycle day schedule, your child may not have a full week to complete his/her Tic-Tac-Toe card this time. If it is returned a day or two later than the due date, that is okay. Please remember your child only needs to complete three of the activities each week.
Conference schedule notes are coming home today. Please let me know ASAP if your scheduled time does not work. I did my best to schedule everyone at their requested time, but some days and times were more highly requested than others. If you did not have a chance please complete the PARENT HOMEWORK before your child's scheduled conference. This helps our time together be as valuable as possible. With Valentine's Day coming up quickly, I am sending notes home requesting items from five of the kids. Please check your child's folder for that note and let me know if you have any questions. We do not have school on Valentine's Day, so we will celebrate in school on Wednesday, February 13th. We will make bags in class for your child's valentines. I will send a class list home for valentines next week. We are quickly getting back into the swing of things in our classroom after the winter break!

December Reminders
Have a Happy Thanksgiving! I look forward to seeing your kids back here on Monday, November 26th! There is no actual homework over the break, but I did challenge the kids to tell at least two people that they are thankful for them and to do one kind thing for someone.
We received three more letters from veterans - Melvin Rothstein (Landon), Curt Gruber (Hudson), and Lee Larkey (Bethany)! HOMEWORK
