This year, our classroom will be using the Words Their Way (WTW) approach to learning spelling. Because we know that not all students learn the same way or at the same rate, I am excited to use WTW in our classroom. At the beginning of the year, I will do a spelling inventory to determine your child's developmental stage. This will determine what spelling lists students will start the year with. Each week, your child will get a new list of words and all of the words on this list will follow a phonetic pattern. Each day in our classroom, your child will complete activities to practice learning and identifying these patterns. I will do informal assessments along the way, along with completed a spelling inventory three more times during the school year to track your child's progress. Your child will not have spelling homework each week.
